The experience of building a successful company has been a transformative one for me, and I look forward to the opportunities Enterprise affords and to working with entrepreneurs in a broad range of the life sciences."
At Enterprise, Kleanthis will join Managing Directors Bob Conn, Carl Eibl, Drew Senyei and Bill Stensrud, along with Partner Emeritus Jim Berglund. Drew Senyei, M.D., Managing Director and head of the life sciences practice at Enterprise, said, "Kleanthis is a truly accomplished company builder and entrepreneur having led Anadys through a successful IPO and negotiating a landmark deal with Novartis worth up to $570M to develop, manufacture and commercialize drugs for chronic hepatitis C virus (HCV), hepatitis B virus (HBV) and other infections. This partnership is the largest in the history of biotech for a Phase I compound. The Novartis deal was not only unprecedented in its creativity, but it also signaled that large pharmaceutical companies are now prepared to make significant investments in Phase I compounds. Kleanthis has personally experienced the challenges and rewards of transforming good science into good business.
